Amethyst Contemporary Tear Bottle
This contemporary bottle features a swirl of lavender glass that wraps around the base of the tear bottle. Crowning the cap is an amethyst corundum cabochon. The rim of the bottle is hand-painted with 24K gold luster. A Grade-A amethyst cabochon tops a Sodalite stone and hand-carved cork stopper to form the cap. Variations in color, paint and shape are characteristics of the hand made nature and are not to be considered defects.
Optional matching 2" mirror tray display available.
The tear bottle tradition has historically been a mourning tradition. They symbolize an intensely personal gift in remembrance of a loved one. Tear bottles were fairly common in Roman times, when mourners filled small glass vials or bottles with tears and placed them in burial tombs as symbols of love and respect.
