A funeral and a memorial service for a loved one who has passed away is an important part of the grieving process. The services allow the surviving family and friends to come to terms with the loss. It also provides them the avenue to receive support and comfort as well to provide the same to each other.

Some people may not have had such an experience yet or they might be experiencing one now. In any of these cases, it would be good for them to know what to expect during this situation.

Funeral services differ according to race, culture and religion but every one of these services served the same purpose for the surviving families and friends. Regardless it is a burial or cremation, the funeral service is a declaration of a death. It offers family and friends to pay tribute to the dearly departed. Most of these services are held in the funeral homes, churches, synagogues, mosques and other places of worship. Some are held concurrently at home and then at the places of worship before proceeding to the burial site or columbarium.

A memorial service however is usually personalized to reflect the life of the dearly departed based on the respective religious affiliation of the surviving families. It is a service to pay tribute to the deceased. It is through the memorial services that the emotional needs of the surviving family and friends are served. The gathering of family and friends at the memorial helps to provide support and adjustments as the surviving family comes to terms with the loss.

Death is not a business that will ever stop being important and in demand. In South Korea, many views about death have changed. Before, traditional beliefs of honoring the dead didn’t allow for cremation, however, many are shying away from strict traditional beliefs and leaning toward more modern practices. With this has come a whole host of creative ways that the beloved deceased can be kept.

Many in Korea are taking to having the cremated ashes of their loved ones turned into glass beads. These beads are then often made into ropes of prayer beads or fashionable jewelry for the whole family. One company, Bonhyang, says that last year, they had 500 people come and have their deceased loved one cremated and turned into these fashionable Buddhist style beads. One man, whose father died 27 years ago even had his father’s body exhumed, his bones cremated and turned into beads. He says that he misses his father every day and by having prayer beads created from his ashes, he has a better means of keeping him close and honoring him in the way that he hopes someone will do for him someday.

Many say that it was the governmental push to start cremating to save space that lead to people wanting these keepsake ash holders. Others say it was something they wanted all along; however, traditional Confucius beliefs prevented it. Whatever the reason, many are turning to cremation and having their loved ones turned to beads or other stones that they can share with the whole family or make their own memorial from.

Recently, my teenage sisters-in-law lost their cat Yoda. Yoda was a spritely one year old cat that suddenly contracted Feline AIDS after a vet check-up she had a couple months before. The girls were absolutely devastated. They loved their cat, even though they had six others.

After weeks of moping around the house and crying for days at a time, I couldn’t stand it any longer. Yoda was buried on the side of the house under the rose bushes, her favorite spot to nap in the sun and eat the petals. I went to the veterinarian’s office and asked if they sold pet memorials, which they did. I found a beautiful memorial of an angel holding a kitty that I knew would make the girls happy to see each time they walked by, unlike the rock that they scratched Yoda’s name into with a car key.

I had the veterinarian’s office engrave Yoda’s name at the base of the memorial and had them call me when I could come and pick it up. When I got the call the next day, I was shocked to see that the pet memorial I had ordered looked beautiful with her name carved under the angel. I took it over to the girl’s house and we had a proper memorial service for Yoda that they weren’t able to give her before. My sisters-in-law were so grateful to be able to give their cat a proper burial and finally have some closure that each month on the anniversary of her death; we gather around and sprinkle catnip on the memorial so that all the other cats in the house will pay tribute too.

Montgomery Memorial Park was dedicated in 2008. The park currently features walkways, a large pond, garden areas as well as a playground for children to play on is going to be expanding over the next few years. These expansions are going to include a veteran’s war memorial, a children’s wall, a pet memorial garden as well as a walkway that will connect Memory Park with the Fernland Historical Park.

Many people are putting up a huge fuss about having a pet memorial garden in the park, stating that it is not a place to bury pets; a place where children play regularly. A compromise has since been made this time stating that anyone that would like to have a memorial for their pet within the garden may do so but no burials will be allowed. Urns containing pet ashes are being allowed as long as they are sealed.

Many families in the area are excited to be having such a large memorial put into place where anyone that knew of their pet will be able to honor them in a beautiful setting that their pets most commonly enjoyed. This pet memorial area will be gated so that small children will not be allowed to get in by themselves. The hours of operation of the memorial will be the same as the rest of the park. The pet memorial area is scheduled to be finished and allowing people to start creating their own personal pet memorials by the fall of 2011.

Not everyone believes in doctor assisted suicide, they see it as murder while others see it as a means to end the suffering. Many people will state in their wills that if they are ever in a position where they can no longer function without the use of machines, they wish to have their lives terminated instead of living off of a machine and costing the family a fortune in medical bills.

Some governments do not allow doctor assisted suicide. They see it as murder while other countries allow it freely so that a person doesn’t have to spend their last days in suffering. In the Netherlands, there are very strict and specific instructions that a doctor must go through to avoid prosecution for helping a patient end their life.

What many people do not realize is that doctor assisted suicide has some drawbacks. According to the bible, you cannot go to heaven if you commit suicide. Since doctor assisted suicide is still a planned death, this counts as suicide.

Suicide whether assisted or not is not legal in every country. There are only three countries that you can go to and have your life terminated with the help of a doctor. These include the Netherlands- under strict guidelines, Switzerland, and in the United States. Within the United States, only three states allow doctor assisted suicide; Oregon, Montana and Washington. Lastly, one of the things people forget is that doctor assisted suicide is expensive. A doctor will help you if it is written into the will or the family of the patient requests it, but the doctor’s liabilities must be paid, which can be expensive. Not nearly to the extent of keeping someone on life support, but it still costs a lot.

When a loved one dies it can be hard to come to terms with the loss, but it can be easier if you have something to focus on such as building the perfect memorials to honor the lost family or friend. With this in mind, you should think about what they would like and what would easily fit into your life so that you can feel as if your loved one is still with you casually watching over you. This can often help bring a sense of closure to your family and make the loss a little easier to come to terms with.

Everyone has a different idea of what perfect memorials are, but the best way to approach the matter is to think about what they would like. For instance, if your loved one had a larger than life type of personality, you may want to go with a musical glass urn that offers pictures, inscriptions, and a song that will represent the attitude and cheer your loved one brought with them when they were in the room. On the other hand, if they tended to be quieter a simple wooden cremation urn with a poem inscribed into it may be a better choice.

These are just a few ideas, but there are many perfect memorials out there on the market designed to help everyone get the type of memorial they deserve and helping their family find some closure and honor in their passing.

When a death occurs understandably everyone in the family is devastated, but the lose is even more devastating if you are moving soon and feel as if you will lose everything you loved at once. It can be hard to bury a loved one if you do not think that you will be able to return later to pay honor to your loved one on a regular basis. This is due to the fact that memorials often act to provide closure to the family members that are left behind, but there are perfect memorials that allow you peace and the chance to get the closure you need.

For instance, you may want to consider a memorial urn over a burial plot if you will be leaving town soon, this way you can take your loved one with you. This way when you have a particularly hard day when the loss seems to hit you hard, you can always turn to the mantle or wherever you choose to put the perfect memorials for comfort. Some people find that having something like this that can travel the country with them is a great deal more comforting then a grave that cannot seen on a regular basis.

Even better, there are now urns that allow you to place poems, pictures, and even music if you like onto the urn to act as a memorial and testament to your loved one making it even more special to your home and the memory of the loved one that has passed.

It is a hard thing to go through, having lost the pet through a long or short illness or a sudden unexpected death such as being hit on the road. For some people, you never get over it or forget them. However, today thanks to understanding people who know what it is like and has been through the loss of a beloved pet, there are many ways to dedicate your loving memory to your pet.

Having a pet memorial helps to finalize the grief process. Gather a few close family and friends and share some good times and memories of your pet. Today the most common choice is cremation; however a beautiful urn is also another option, one that you can keep in the home close by for comfort. There are many beautiful sturdy well made urns that come in many styles and choices of precious metals or ceramics. There are wood, metal, stone, ceramic, glass and other precious metals for choices when it comes to styles and personal comfort.

Always remember your beloved pet with a stylized photo frame that is engraved, or a large name plate with your beloved pet’s information on it. Other options to remember your pet are necklaces of a small locket photo to wear, rotating photo urns and picture frames that can have any inscription you want added. These are memories that turn into a fond keepsake of your pet, and can give you comfort in your loss.

Do you have a pet that you consider as a vital and integral part of your life or family? Many families and individuals own pets that they value like a child. Their pet is their world, fun, and companion. One day that pet will cease to live, pass away and go to better place. When this happens, we want a place of memory and honor for our pet either in the home, or outside at a burial site.

Urns for pets are an inexpensive way to commiserate your pet with style and honor. Urns are far less expensive compared to the costs of a full-fledged funeral and burial of the pet. Many people who own pets do not realize that to bury a pet is costly. Most cities and villages do not allow burial of a pet in the back yard anymore. You are to either have the veterinarian bury your pet at a designated pet cemetery, or have a funeral director for animals take care of the pet for you. Urns give families and individuals comfort and are a beautiful way to remember the pet that meant so much to them. The urns can be buried in a special place in the back yard (provided that the pet is in a sealed urn and buried with a vault), and a burial stone engraved for the pet. Others prefer to keep the beautiful urn in their home on a fireplace mantel or other designated area in the home. These are options to think about ahead of time so that you do not have to worry about what will happen.

Purchasing an urn for your beloved pet has never been easier. There are many styles and types of urns that can be chosen: glass, wood, metal, precious metals, marble and many other valuable options. The urn can also be dedicated with poems, photo of the pet, angels or inscriptions of love.

Give the option of cremation and a beautiful lasting memorial urn for your beloved pet when the time comes. It is beneficial and rewarding to always keep the memory of your beloved pet alive.

Tiffani is a new first-time mommy whom gave birth to her beautiful baby girl on June 15, 2010. The same day that her beloved cat passed on. She says that it is a very surreal and spiritual feeling to know the presence of someone so long and then almost feel it being passed on to something new. This is how she feels of her daughter, Harper. Tiffani says that she feels like Harper embodies many of the same qualities that her long time kitty friend did. She says that she can see her cat in her precious baby girl and feels as if she is a living pet memorial that she will always cherish.

Tiffani claims that despite the physical loss of her cat she doesn’t feel as if she lost anything. She actually feels as if she gained something from the passing of her cat and feels as is Harper is two souls in one. “She has a beautiful soul.” She was quoted as saying to People Magazine. “That’s something that nobody will ever be able to take from her.” Although the house is a little emptier without the physical presence of the beloved kitty, she claims that the house is full of love in ways that it has never been before.

Lucky for Tiffani and husband Brady Smith, they got an extraordinary gift from the passing of their cat, something that is both rare and beautiful. Hopefully they cherish it as much as possible. They currently still have one cat and two dogs to help occupy their time as well as little baby Harper. This home is one that couldn’t be happier.
