I totally agree with ‘dog lover’!! My cats mean the world to me! I have no children, they are my kids & I love them. I want them to be with me, that’s MY choice!

I agree with all the previous comments. I have a dog, who I consider to be my child. He has helped me through some very difficult times in my life and has been a true blessing. I didn’t know it was illegal to have your pet’s remains buried with you. I had always told my family when I die, put my dog’s urn in my casket. Now that I saw this, it angers me. As Georgia stated, it’s my casket and what goes in it is no one’s business. As for the cemetary owner’s, using custom and religion is a cop out. Why you should even care so long as you’re being paid for the plot. What if it’s someone’s custom or religion to be buried with their pet??? Will all of you then turn that individual away? If every human treated every animal with half the decency and respect that they would like to be treated this world may be in a better place.

If you make personal arrangements with your mortuary with a prepaid funeral plan to discretely have someone put the cremains of your pets at your feet inside the casket or put into a stuffed animal and not in an urn, it can be done. Discretion is the key.

I don’t know why the government would get involved with this. What you put in your casket is your business. You pay for it, and you own it. It is nobody’s business but the person who is being buried.
