About Cast Bronze Vase Cremation Urns
Bronze, made from a combination of copper and tin, is a popular metal for making cremation urns. This metal is often associated with classic statuary and artwork, which adds an appealing dimension to the urns. Perfect Memorials offers a number of bronze urn options, including the traditional vase style and cubes with plaques, panels, or appliques.
Many people choose bronze urns not only for their beauty, but also for their strength and durability. Solid bronze urns are relatively heavy, which gives them stability. Many urns also have a classic brushed bronze finish, which is extremely appealing to the eye. Other options include a darker antique finishing, brushed silver, and patina, which gives the urn a green surface.
Choosing a Bronze Urn
Before selecting your bronze urn, you'll need to know the approximate weight of the deceased before cremation. Choose an urn with a volume in cubic inches that's roughly equivalent to the weight of the person in pounds. In other words, if the deceased weighed 150 pounds, you'll need a cremation urn that holds at least 150 cubic inches. Many people like to have a little extra space in their urn, so you may want to choose one that's larger than you need.
Bronze urns are available in a number of sizes and styles, with the most prominent being the classic vase and a cube or box. Vase urns typically have a lid on top that screws closed, holding the cremains safe inside. Cube urns have a panel in the back or bottom that unscrews so that the cremains can be placed inside. In either case, you may want to put the ashes into a cremains bag before adding them to the urn.
If you choose a cube-shaped bronze urn from Perfect Memorials, you'll have a selection of plaques, appliques, and panels to choose from. Images of crosses, praying hands, angels, and military medallions can all be added, depending on the specific type of turn. Pictures can also be etched into the bronze itself.
Many bronze urns can be personalized with custom engraving. This will help to permanently identify the urn and make it unique. Our skilled engravers work quickly and accurately, so there should be little or no delay in your order. Choosing the right size urn is easy. For every one pound before cremation you will need 1 cubic inch of volume. For example, a loved one weighing 200 pounds will need an urn that is at least 200 cubic inches or larger. Choosing an urn larger then you need is OK.
