Top 6 Pet Memorial Trends in 2023

Losing a beloved pet is one of the hardest experiences any pet owner can go through. The bond we share with our furry companions is indescribable and the love we have for them lasts forever. While it's hard to cope with the loss of a pet, there are several ways you can honor their memory and keep their spirit alive. The possibilities are truly endless but we have put together a list of trending ways families are choosing to memorialize your pets in 2023:

1. Volunteer

Volunteering at an animal shelter or rescue organization is a great way to honor your pet's memory and give back to the community. You can donate your time, skills, or resources to help animals in need. Most humane society locations are always looking for volunteers. Plus, who doesn’t love to spend time with animals who just want to be loved?

2. Plant a Tree or Garden

Planting a tree or garden in your pet's memory is a beautiful way to keep their spirit alive. You can choose a special spot in your backyard, or even donate to a local park or garden to have a tree planted in their honor. The tree will be a lasting place you’ll be able to visit and remember all the time you spent with them. Custom pet stones make a great addition to a garden or next to a special landmark in their name.

3. Make a Donation

Making a monetary or supply donation to an animal welfare organization in your pet's name is a great way to honor their legacy and help other animals in need. You can choose an organization that aligns with your pet's interests, such as a breed-specific rescue, a wildlife sanctuary, or an animal shelter.

4. Jewelry for Ashes

Cremation jewelry has been around for some time but it has recently become a popular option. This jewelry comes in many different styles from necklaces to rings and many materials. Custom engraving makes the significance of each pendant so much more. Not only can you wear the jewelry but it could also be added as a rearview mirror adornment; bringing them on car rides with you forever.

5. Create Art

If you're artistically inclined, creating a piece of art in your pet's memory can be a meaningful way to honor them. You can paint a portrait of your pet, make a sculpture, or even create a collage with their pictures and mementos. If you aren’t the artsy type, hiring an artist to make a special print for you is an option. Heck, you could even have a custom stuffed replica made to look just like your beloved companion.

6. Get A Tattoo

Tattoos are a way of self expression but they’re also fully custom, allowing you freedom to make the end result exactly how you want it. Pet portraits, paw prints, angel wings and collars are common memorial tattoos centerpieces. You may find it interesting that some tattoo artists will even allow you to add your pets ashes to the ink, allowing coexistence with your pet forever.
