Keepsake Urns - Sharing Urns
About Keepsake Urns - Sharing Urns
Keepsake urns, also known as sharing urns, are distinguished from traditional urns mainly by their size. Like traditional urns, these small urns are available in a variety of designs, but they are sized to hold only a portion of the cremated remains of an adult or the entire cremains of an infant or small child.
As more people choose cremation, the number of those who choose keepsake and sharing urns also grows. For many grieving family members, small urns for ashes help to fill a space in the tremendous void created by the death of a loved one.
Why Choose a Small Urn as a Keepsake or for Sharing?
Survivors often find a measure of comfort in their grief by preserving the memories of their deceased loved ones. Keepsake and sharing urns can help to preserve those memories and console the bereaved.
For instance, family members often find solace in being able to hold some tangible part or symbol of their deceased loved one, such as a lock of hair, a photograph, or a treasured belonging. With keepsake urns, survivors can retain a portion of the cremated remains so their loved one is always close at heart.
Another reason to choose a keepsake urn is to allow multiple family members to conveniently share the cremated remains of their loved one. This is an especially valuable feature in today's global society, as it becomes more common for families to find their members scattered throughout the country or even around the world. By sharing the cremains among multiple keepsake urns for ashes, each family member can keep a special memento of their loved one.
Perfect Memorials offers an extensive line of keepsake urns crafted in a variety of beautiful styles and quality materials, including wood, ceramic, metal, glass, and cultured materials. In many cases, small urns looks exactly like their larger versions, while others are unique in size and shape. Keepsake cremation urn sets are also available, so that multiple identical urns can be purchased together.
Keepsake Urn Sizes
While all keepsake urns are smaller than their larger counterparts, the actual size of each can vary. Many hold between 1 and 3 cubic inches of cremains, with a cubic inch being equal to about 1 tablespoon. Larger sharing urns are available, including those that can hold 30 cubic inches or more. Because there is no standard size, it's important to determine the amount of cremains you'll receive before choosing your urn. It's better to have more space than you need.
