The Rimmed Fingerprint Grand Sterling Silver Pendant is a great way to create a keepsake of a cherished loved one. Each pendant is created using an impression of your loved ones fingerprint. Prints are taken using an ink kit that is sent to you and an exact replica is captured on sterling silver, 14k gold or a 14k white gold pendant. Wear this pendant as a cherished memorial or give it to a friend or family member as a heartfelt gift. A presentation box is also included. This pendant is approximately 1mm thick.
Engraving on the back of the pendant can be done. A block or script style font can be used – see images above for examples. Engraving can be up to 3 lines with a total of 10 characters on each line
Capturing the Print
Step 1: Gather some scrap paper to take practice prints. Examine the print area. If the thumb is scarred or does not have a decent pad, try a forefinger or a large toe. Clean and dry the thumb or finger being printed.
Step 2: Remove the pre-inked strip from back of the card. Then carefully peel back the top sheet.
Step 3: Practice taking prints on any blank sheet of paper. Lightly tap your loved one's thumb on the inked surface two or three times and then tap the inked finger on the order card. Do not roll the thumb or press too hard.
Step 4: Experts will select the best portion of the best print for casting. Also, take a couple of extra prints that you can keep in the unlikely event the order card is lost in the mail. Plain white index cards work well for this purpose. The more prints there are to choose from the better the chances are of finding a really good one to scan and cast.
Step 5: Clean the inked finger with a wet cotton paper towel, or massage cream. A drop of hand lotion that contains alcohol removes every last bit of ink.
Step 6: Fill out the required information for engraving and shipping. Staple the best prints to the order card. Artisans will select the best print for casting and will clean up unwanted hair lines, etc.
