Blue Butterfly Glass Tear Bottle
Individually created in America by skilled artisans, these intricate vessels are a beautiful tribute to a loved one or memory. The cobalt blue glass bottle is made of blown glass with cloudy blue swirls of color on the bottom. The bottle has four beaded feet. On the side of the bottle is a three-dimensional butterfly. This bottle has a cork stopper lid that helps to preserve the contents inside. Once the bottle has been filled, it is recommended to use a permanent adhesive to permenently secure the stopper. Variations in color and shape are characteristics of the hand made nature and are not to be considered defects.
To display this piece of art, a matching 2" mirror tray is included. The bottle sets on top of the round mirror and helps to illuminate the beauty of the keepsake.
Originally and traditionally designed to hold tears shed for a lost life, these bottles are versatile and can hold other materials such as dried flowers, sand, soil or cremains. The tear bottle tradition has historically been a mourning tradition. They symbolize an intensely personal gift in remembrance of a loved one. Tear bottles were fairly common in Roman times, when mourners filled small glass vials or bottles with tears and placed them in burial tombs as symbols of love and respect.
From the artist; "The Butterfly symbolizes the beautiful story of transformation and rebirth - as the caterpillar transforms from its cocoon to beautiful butterfly, so do we transform from our life here on earth to life hereafter."
