Deep Water Aqua Shell Biodegradable Urn

This aqua shell biodegradable urn is fabricated by hand from recycled and earth-friendly materials biodegrades naturally in water. Each urn is individually hand-painted an aqua color in a realistic shell pattern. This urn has the capacity to hold up to 400 cubic inches, or the cremains of someone that was 400 lbs or less prior to passing. This size urn makes it a great option for a companion urn too. Provided is a water-soluble bag to hold the ashes of your loved one inside the urn. If the urn will be used for a companion urn, it is important to purchase an additional water-soluble bag to hold the ashes separately.

Biodegradable Water Burial
This urn is filled by opening a small plug on the back side of the urn and gently placing the water-soluble bag filled with ashes inside the shell. The bio shell urn is perfect for water burial. It is engineered to float for 3 to 5 minutes before gracefully descending. Once on the ocean floor it will break down naturally. We have compiled the most helpful tips and advice for water burial in our articles for extra information.

Original Artwork By Todd Telander
Telander is an international scientific illustrator and artist who has produced work for numerous zoos and aquariums, wildlife and ocean conservation groups, and is a selected artist of the American Birding Association. Telander coupled his background in biology and environmental studies with his artistry to create original artwork for the Shell Bio Urns that is both scientifically accurate and beautiful.

The Environment
This Biodegradable Cremation Urn is manufactured with the environment in mind. The tree bark used to make the paper is harvested from the mulberry tree in such a way that the tree continues to grow, undamaged. This sustainable process is centuries old and ensures the preservation of ancient forests.

Once the bark of the tree is harvested, it is soaked until soft and then laid out on to bamboo screens. The screens are then placed in the sun to dry. The resulting paper is used to make beautiful and environmentally-friendly urns.

    The Perfect Urn

I chose this urn for my loved one's interrment at sea. It was perfect. The directions to transfer the remains, the ease with which that was accomplished - simply by following the instructions was a relief. The transporting of the urn to the marina and our eventual placing in the ocean just was a beautiful and soothing experience. We chose to toss roses over the side once the urn was floating while it gently with time slipped below the surface. The whole experience has me rethinking what I may consider for myself when that time comes. Yes, the urn may be larger than you expect. I cannot give you the dimensions. However, it will hold 2 sets of remains. I was very pleased with my purchase. And highly recommend that if you're interring your loved one at sea, to consider this biodegradeable urn.

    Shell Urn

The shell is beautiful. We have not used it yet due to back up at the mortuary but the urn is perfect. My Mom requested that her and my Dad’s ashes be mixed together. The shell urn will hold both. So thank you for having that large urn available for a ocean burial. They loved going on cruises so it is a fitting tribute to them. There are not very many couple urns for water burials.

    Exactly what Mom wanted

The seashell urn for our Mom’s burial at sea is exactly what she wanted. The only thing I would mention is the color is more of a darker gray blue not aqua blue. This was not a game changer for us, but it might be for others that we’re expecting a lighter shade of aqua blue.

This urn may work for some people, and some dispersals, but it is monster sized! You're right, I didn't read the description and the size. A lot of details slip by when you're grief stricken.
I'll be taking some of my husband's ashes on a plane to Belize and down to the bottom on a scuba dive. I had to return it and find something much smaller.

My husbands wishes were made possible with this beautiful shell. We took him out to the bay of Monterey Ca. On a chartered yacht with our children grandchildren and family it was the best any of us imagined I know he was smiling down at us when my son released the shell out of know where this huge seal jumped straight up right in front of us and waved his flipper. That was my husband saying thank you and goodbye I'm free. God bless you Robert

I just now opened the carton and what a wonderful choice I have made. Since I want to include the love of my life, my Bichon Frise Winston with me, the shell is the perfect size and I know that my family will be pleased when it come time for them to use it .

Thank you for making this available, as the bio urns offered by the folks who are arranging my cremation did not have this in their catalog.

I am more than pleased and will be sure to not only recommend your site, but I will showing this urn to my friends who are also planning cremation.

    Puget Sound Burial

This urn is so lovely. We used it at our daughter's funeral and then took it to Puget Sound where she wanted to be with the whales she loved so much. Family and friends threw roses and stood silently watching the urn glisten on the water and then slowly disappear. Everyone said this was the most powerful experience they've ever had.

    Aqua Shell Biodegradale Urn

This was the most beautiful way to sent my father back to Florida from MI where my parents resided most of their retirement years. We took the family and the urn, already prepared to be set afloat, with the family members. When the boat reached the place where it was permissable by law to set it afloat, all the family members watched and said a prayer, while other people on the boat were up top watching. It did take longer than 5 minutes, but my dad always had a motto "He's not going because he's not ready yet" We had a lovely dinner clebration after the releasing of the shell and wonderful sunset pictures on Lake MI as a keepsake.
