Pearl Deep Water Shell Biodegradable Urn

This urn is hand-made and hand-painted by skilled artisans with earth-friendly materials that will naturally biodegrade in ocean or lake water. The urn is painted a pearl and tan color to resemble a real shell found in the ocean. The vessel has an overall capacity of 400 cubic inches which means it can hold the ashes of a loved one that had a healthy weight of 400 lbs or less prior to passing. Due to the size, this urn can be used for one individual or a companion sharing urn. Included with the shell urn is a TSA-compliant carrying case for "in-cabin" airline transportation and a water-soluble biodegradable bag.

The shell urn has an opening on the back side of the urn that can be opened to put the cremains inside the vessel. One important note to make is that the cremains should never be poured directly into the shell, rather they should be placed inside the provided water-soluble bag and the bag with cremains placed inside the urn. If the shell is planned for cremains of two or more loved ones, additional water-soluble bags should be purchased.

How This Urn Works
The bio shell urn is specifically designed for water burial. On the front and back side of the urn are many small holes that will allow water to slowly fill the urn as it is placed on the water. Once set on the water, it will float for approximately 3 to 5 minutes, dependent on the calmness of the water. As water flows in the urn, the water-soluble bag will begin to dissolve and the cremains will disperse in the water in the shell. The shell will then begin a gently descent to the bottom of the lake or ocean floor. It will then continue to biodegrade until completely dispersed in the water.

Biodegradable Water Burial
While many choose to have a standard land memorial or funeral celebration, water burial is a unique experience for all involved. Each ceremony can be customized to fit the needs and wishes of your family. Account for the special planning required, we have compiled some helpful advice and best tips for scattering ashes at sea.

    Beautiful sail-away

The urn was beautiful and the perfect sail away for my parents. The bag included was large enough to hold the combined ashes of both my parents, as they had wished. We played guitars, sang their favorite songs, and set them to sail with scattered flowers from their yard several miles off the Gulf beach where they lived. The shell drifted about 10 minutes before sinking away, at which time three dolphins appeared! It was awesome. I highly recommend this product. Thanks

    Sand Shell

After spending a great deal of money on a product that was supposed to help me fulfill my mother's wishes, I was extremely disappointed. After following the directions and then placing the shell into the ocean, the shell never sank. After an hour of attempting to send my mother off, my husband had to finally tear it open so it would sink. The shell was beautiful but because it never sank on it's own, it made what should have been a comforting event into a fiasco. I do not recommend this product.

This was a wonderful and beautiful way to release my Dads ashes. He was a surfer for 75 years. This was even better than expected. The packaging was perfect when it arrived. The carry box made it easy for travel. And we brought ithe Clam Shell with the ashes out on a sailing vessel then joined the paddle out of surfers...3 dolphins swam into the area where everyone tossed their Rose Petals and orchid leis....exactly how my father would have wanted. Thank you!

    shell

The shell provided a wonderful way for us to bury our grandparents/parents in the water in a peaceful way. We all were able to put notes inside as part of the service by adding a slit on top (though you could put notes in the urn prior to sealing it too). The children scattered rose petals in the water and the effect was beautiful. I would reccommend buying a second biodegradable bag (for te inside) if you are using this as a companion urn. We were going to just scatter the ashes, but were very grateful we used this instead.

    Burial at Sea

I can't tell you what this seashell had done for my husband's burial at sea. He was always by the sea, from birth to his death. This seashell was above and beyond my expections. His "place" in the sea, was marked on a GPS, and when I die, my ashes will be put in "his" spot.
